HIKING TROUGH VAL DI POSCHIAVO

Val Poschiavo has become my little retreat.

In this blog post, I will share my favorite places. recommend my favorite restaurants and share the most beautiful hiking routes with you.

Val Poschiavo is still an unknown place for many, but worth seeing.

There’re hiking routes ranging from easy to difficult.

Poschiavin is the dialect that’s spoken. What I particularly like about here is not only the kitchen and nature but also the people.

The mentality is a mixture of Italian and Swiss.

They love their grappa, if you’re offered a grappa, don’t turn it down.

The setting reminds you of Iceland and Italy all at the same time.

If you only use public transport like me, you can fail-safe visit Val Poschiavo by train or bus.

BUT the buses only run between spring and autumn. In winter he only drives once or twice a week to bring the children home from boarding school and a few tourists.

If it snows too much, it can also be that he doesn’t drive at all. Twice I got snowed in.

Poschiavo is also a very harsh place where you rule with nature.

 OKEY, enough of the info:

Alp Grüm -Cavaglia / easy and medium 1-2 h

Cozy by train to Alp Grüm, a part of the famous Bernina Express route. The train leaves from Pontresina or Poschiavo.

There are two ways to get to from Alp Grüm to Cavaglia.

From the Alp Grüm station, you have a panoramic view of waterfalls and a beautiful mountain lake.

The easier one is a direct route that crosses the tracks.

A perfect way to photograph the famous Bernina Express.

The other path leads to the power station path and a beautiful mountain lake, but the path is not that easy in places. so medium level of difficulty.

PS: If you have time and are into geology, you should walk through the glacier garden. they’re guided tours.

Bernina Opsizio – Lago Bianco to Alpgrüm – easy approx.1h.

The way to Alprüm is an easy one. Before you go hiking you can stop for a coffee in Restaurant Cambrena. Asks about the family history, is super interesting.

Bernina Ospizio’s surroundings are reminiscent of Iceland. At the end of Lago Bianco, the view of the Val Poschiavo valley is open.

I would stop at the Hotel Restaurant Belvedere and have a grappa or a hot drink. I promised you won’t be sorry. It’s a place to stay.

After the hike, you can take the train home again.

* Tip, take a scarf and hat with you, it will be very windy.

sfazu fermata -lagh da val viola -lago di saoseo easy- medium / 1-5 hrs.

Val di Campo is a hiking paradise and is still little discovered except in summer. A tip is the beginning of spring or autumn.

By bus to Rifugio Saoseo or on foot from Sfazu Fermata.

Sfazu Fermata’s path is longer but not much more difficult. My tip is towards Terzana. That’s the road that’s on the other side of the river.

In summer there are syrup stalls, on the hiking trails before Lago di Saoseo.

Made from kids from the region . Yes!!! homemade syrup from the region what more could you want!?!

The way to Saoseo is not far if you are looking for a longer hike you should go to Lagh da Val Viola. The lake is over 2159 meters above sea level. The mountain lake and its surroundings are different in every season. In another post, I will pass on the legend of Lagh da Val viola to you. There are also many different smaller lakes between the trails.

Every lake has its own character

lago di poschiavo le prese- miralago easy / 1-2 hours

If you are looking for a little break from the long hike. then i got for you this rout.

Well, it’s not a real hike, but rather a long walk.

The hike around the lake is doable for almost everyone. The special is the panorama. Like in a fairy tale, it goes through tunnels that seems were carved by dwarfs or elves. The azure blue lake ripples and throws lights and shadows on the trees.

If you look close, the lake breathes and lives. The air bubbles that rise are small sources. Who is after the Ur … will find it in this place.

In the sweet Albergo Ristorante Grotto, the restaurant has the best homemade cakes.

with a view of Lago di Poschiavo. If you don’t feel like walking anymore, you can take the train back.

I hope I was able to show you a little insight my favorite places.

Val Poschiavo is worth seeing and offers a lot more.

You can find more inspiration and pictures of the routes on Vero, and Pinterest.
