“TO GET A LITTLE CLOSER TO THE UNIVERSE“

Traveling from Zurich to Bernina Ospizio is an adventure in itself. Six hours on the way by train on the most beautiful train route in the world.

The hike has been number one on my BUCKET LIST for years. But somehow time was my biggest enemy. But this year I spontaneously said YES to the adventure.

That evening, I packed my backpack and bought a ticket.

BERNINA OSPOZIO – 10 pm

The meeting point was in front of the restaurant and Hotel Cambrena.

After an introduction and the packing of the avalanche GPS and the shovel, we set off. After the pictorial introduction, we felt more alive than ever.

I am bursting with minus 15 degrees with my small hiking group. But we were lucky, there was no wind and we didn’t have a single cloud in the starry sky.

Our way led to the Lago Bianco 2234 m above sea level.

The mountain landscape is like another world. Some said it was comparable to Iceland. On the frozen Lago Bianco (Weisssee) we had a view all the way down to Protensina. The moon shone and made our headlamps unnecessary.

The snow glittered like millions of diamonds.

At 12 pm the moon stood in its full glory. and let the landscape shine brightly.

We took a break shortly before Lagalb and enjoyed the peace and quiet and the view. I couldn’t take my eyes off the stars.

I was also lucky enough to see a falling star.

HIKING UNDER THE STARRY SKY

The way to Bernina Suot was easier now, but my feet were burning because I was wearing socks that were too thick. Of course, as a city dweller and a Latina, I thought that I would freeze to death. My tip is not to wear your thickest wool socks with the wool-lined winter shoes for a snowshoe hike.

In Bernina Suot, the Hotel Bernina Haus prepared for us Prosecco and the best nut cake I ever had.

We spent a little time resting and talked about our adventures.
