PREDA – BERGÜN & DARLUX IN THE SWISS ALPS IS 10KM FULL OF SLEDDING FUN. SLEDDING WITH A VIEW ON THE UNESCO WOLR HERITAGE SITE. THIS POST IS ALL ABOUT THE TOBOGGAN RUN EXPERIENCE, TIPS AND TRICKS.
I did it!!! I achieved my first goal.
A DAY TRIP TO BERGÜN AND PREDA, MOUNTAIN VILLAGES IN THE SWISS ALPS.
The trip is over 2 hours one way by train from Zurich and yes for some of you it sounds long… but the trip up is just breathtaking and totally worth it!
My day started at 6.30 am and ended at 11.30 pm.
I reserved my toboggan in advance so I just needed to pickt up in Bergün and I bought my toboggan run ticket at the Rähtischebahn office (cost see below).

LET THE FUN START:
When I arrived in Bergün I took the train to Preda and at Preda train station it is a short 5-10 minute walk to the toboggan run. It is absolutely worth taking these few steps.
30 minutes of incredible sledding from Preda to Bergün and almost at the end of the run you can even see how fast you go. I made it up to 32 km/h.
At the end of the run, you can walk back to the train station or if you have bought a ticket, you can take a chairlift to Darlux.
BRUISES ON MY BUTTOCKS
In Darlux I ate a warm and delicious vegetarian “Gersten” soup. While eating on the terrace, I looked down into the beautiful scenery of the valley below.
After I stuffed myself with the hearty mountain soup, the second part began. Steeper, bumpier, and scarier than any other toboggan run in the world! Well actually, I don’t have much of comparison because it was my first real sledding.
The next day I discovered a large bruise on my bum and my muscles were sore.
I got bruised because the sled threw me a little into the air towards a hill. I was really happy to have my ski helmet. I braked and screamed most of the time on the slopes. But I still sledded down twice.

After every Darlux ride, I stretched my legs and walked towards the train station.
If you walk through the village there are stalls with punch mulled wine and hot chocolate. The milk arrives directly from the farmer next door.
I also discovered a farmer’s shop where you could buy your dinner.
It is a super cute charming village as it says in the book. Well worth the visit.
MY CONCLUSION OF THE DAY:
It is worth the trip, even if it is only for the day , you should do it once in your life. What I would do differently would be to perhaps stay overnight and go sledding until eleven o’clock..
COST AND TIPS AND TRICKS:
- Day GA / Gemeindeticket : 40.-
- Toboggan rental: 15.-
- Day toboggan run preda – bergün & darlux : 19.-
- Soup at the restaurant : 12.-
- Hot choclate in the village: 1.50.-
- Snack at Volg: 7.70.-
Full cost for a day: 95.20 CHF
*Just let me tell you it seems a lot but for swiss standard, it’s absolutely not.
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SAVE MORE MONEY:
You can bring your wood toboggan and snack, but I would not miss the snack at the farmer’s shop. Everyone who resides in Switzerland can buy a community day ticket (Gemeinde Tages Ticket) in their community or area, it is much cheaper. The ticket is valid throughout Switzerland for a whole day.

I ALREADY HAVE A NEW GOAL FOR NEXT YEAR:
to stay overnight in Bergün and sled until 11 pm at a full moon.
Thank you for going on adventures with me.
YOUR MONI LA COCO
